Root Beer Float Jello
All the fun of a classic root beer float…in a wobbly, jiggly cup!
Ingredients
- 1 cup root beer (chilled)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 box vanilla Jello or 2 tsp unflavored gelatin + 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Whipped cream, for topping
Instructions
-
Prepare the gelatin:
In a medium heatproof bowl, dissolve vanilla Jello (or unflavored gelatin + vanilla) in 1 cup boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved. -
Add the root beer carefully:
Slowly pour in 1 cup chilled root beer, stirring gently to combine. Be careful—it will foam! -
Pour and chill:
Divide the mixture into small cups or glasses. Refrigerate for 2–3 hours or until firm. -
Top and serve:
Just before serving, add a generous swirl of whipped cream on top. Optionally, garnish with a cherry or a sprinkle of crushed vanilla wafer for extra flair.
Tips for Success
Chill your root beer: Cold root beer reduces excessive foaming when added to the gelatin.
Pour slowly: To keep the foaming under control, stir gently as you mix.
Make ahead: Can be prepared a few hours in advance—add whipped cream just before serving.
Fun variations: Try mixing in a small scoop of ice cream on top for a classic float look!
